Trader Shops

The Trader Guildleader Ansprahv looks you over and says, "As you have no doubt learned by now, trading is all about buying and selling. To aid you in that, the guild has established shops exclusively for our members. In them you can find a wide variety of merchandise, some suited to the needs of a trader while others may be in demand amongst the general public. The shop here in the Crossing guild is reserved for the more advanced member of the guild, as well as the one we have in Muspar'i. There is a shop in the Rathan guild but that is reserved for the more advanced member of the guild. Be sure to continue training your skills as the more skilled you are, the better price you can get on most items in these shops."

Ledger

The Trader Guildleader Ansprahv says, "You can't do business without a ledger, that's for certain. You should always keep your ledger with you. In it is recorded your contract and commodity transactions and their profits, if any. There is also a wealth of information in the notes at the end covering most aspects of a trader's life. You can pick one up from the minister downstairs."

This is the most important piece of property you will carry with you thru your days. It holds all the information near and dear to your heart... such as profits. You can find this on a desk in the Hall of Records. Studying the ledger teaches scholarship and when you are calculating totals it will teach appraisal.

Ledger syntaxes
OPEN LEDGER
READ LEDGER
STUDY LEDGER
TURN LEDGER TO CHAPTER number
TURN LEDGER TO PAGE number
CLOSE LEDGER

Chapters 1 thru 4 contain information on Zoluren, Therengian, Ilithi, and Forfedhdar outposts. On these pages you will discover if you have a caravan rented out, if you are caught up on fees, if you have contracts pending, and how many contracts you have completed.

Chapter 5 allows you to keep track of your commodities. It lists which items you have bought, what items you have currently loaded, how much more you can buy, and how much you have delivered.

Chapter 6 notes all the details of trader life and what you will deal with. It includes general information, commodities, supply, mercantile, caravans, warehouses, stables, markets, auction halls, shipping, and horse trading.

Feedbags are not necessary but nice when feeding your caravan (or pack animal). Hold it in your right hand and GIVE CARAVAN (or pack animal). It portions out exactly what they need to eat so you do not have to forage for grass to give them more than once. Be useful and feed other caravans and pack animals whenever you pass them too!

Loupes are handy magnifiers to study gems with. You can detect flaws and figure out if the gem has been clarified by a Moon Mage.

Market certificates and coupons are available at at Chispin's Handbill shop in Therenborough. Certificates are 250 lirums each and coupons 500 lirums each. WRITE # to choose what it is worth and have all traders who will accept SIGN it.

The Trader Guildleader Ansprahv says, "Have you had opportunity to visit any of the various trader markets we have opened up in recent times? If not you are probably unaware of a tool that was developed mainly for the market traders, but could be useful to other inventive traders. You can now purchase, for a modest fee, blank certificates that you can then fill out and sign, signifying your willingness to redeed the certificate for the value written on it. Imagine, being able to write your own currency like that. Of course, you'll need to work on your reputation if you want the common folk to accept your notes at face value. Alternatively you could try and get a well known and respected trader to sign the certificates as well making them more acceptable. There are also coupons that are only usable in the trader markets that allow the trader to give discounts on their items. Very useful things to reward customers with, and lure them back to buy more."

Market ticket is used for table rentals. You get this from the monger and place it on the table to claim it. Read it to see which Market its for, how much time is left, if it has already been used, and if more time can be added.

Notecards are sold in Muspar'i Trader Shop and can help advertise your goods on tables. There are four types of cards you can TURN to show different messages.
a carefully folded notecard
"Ask me about lockpicks!"
"Ask me about tanned leathers!"
"Furrier sales performed by request!"
a crisp ivory notecard
"Ask me about gwethdesuans!"
"Ask me about other trader services that I offer!"
"Ask me about constellation jewelry!"
a bleached papyrus notecard
"Gem selling performed by request!"
"Ask me about fletched bows!"
"Ask me about tanned shields!"
a boldly stenciled notecard
"Inquire about my specials!"
"Ask me about forged weapons!"
"Ask me about forged armor!"

Tags come in tag sacks that you can buy from the monger at Trader Markets. The sack comes with 25 tags and costs 625 kronars (500 lirums, 451 dokoras). Writing implements are a quill or a piece of charcoal. The tag needs to be in right hand and quill in left hand to write.

Theft

Oddly, your pouch seems suddenly heavier for a moment. Knowing the lands as you do, you doubt it was a donation.

Traders don't give away coin, so keep it! Use a lil common sense and only carry what you need. As a trader you have the innate ability to realize when you have lost that precious commoditiy. Your keen trader's money sense also lets you instinctively know how much is taken. It is recommended that you highlight this line so it is noticed right away (see below messaging). Unfortunately you don't see who it is and will need to prevent future acts. Do so by hiding, running away or try to interact with the thief (roleplay it out!).

Theft messaging:
Trader only, felt and successful - Oddly, your pouch seems suddenly heavier for a moment. Knowing the lands as you do, you doubt it was a donation.
Caught but unsuccessful - You stop XXX in his act of trying to pick your pocket. It's a good thing you caught him in time!
Caught and successful - You feel a faint tugging at your belt, and look down to find XXX pulling his hand out of your purse with some coins.

If the thief was stalking you at that time you will stop them from following you due to the attempted theft. During a successful theft when you see who it was, you have two recourses other than confronting them:
ACCUSE name - When in a guard house just type ACCUSE and then the mean ol' person who stole from you! To accuse someone of theft you must go to the guard office in the city in which you caught a thief stealing from you. They do not need to be online for you to ACCUSE them.
ACCUSE name to CLERK - Trader only! Use this when you catch a Thief in your pockets outside the city walls and the Guild may send thugs out to beat them up!
